“Police have identified the 69-year-old woman who was struck by a snowplow as Linda Rud of Rochester.

Rud was killed by the snowplow in southeast Rochester Friday morning.

According to Minnesota State Patrol, she was walking alone.

Rochester Police Department said it happened at 9:03 a.m. on Pinewood Road SE.

When officers arrived on scene, they confirmed she was dead. The plow involved is owned and operated by the City of Rochester.

State Patrol confirms the plow was backing up at the time. State Patrol did a commercial vehicle inspection on the snow plow. The investigation wrapped up just after noon. The road is back open.”

According to reports, the driver of the snowplow has been placed on leave pending the investigation. Details are still scarce, but hopefully in the coming days more information about the circumstances will become available. There is a good possibility that this unfortunate incident could result in a wrongful death suit.
